Story

Second home built for a family with adult children who would share the house as a mountain getaway for golfing, skiing, and hiking. Has a guest suite above the garage that functions independently with its own set of stairs. They can come in from the garage and go up the stairs without coming into the main part of the house. Set of stairs separate from the main part of the house. Fond of informal entertaining, hence the large, luxurious kitchen. People like the suite idea because if they have people coming to stay with them, they can be independent and not in the families space the whole time. They can determine their own level of independence. Huge entertaining space on the lower level. Room for a pool table and a TV/conversation watching area with a wetbar. One of the things we did was hammer trusses that were inspired by 17th and 18th century construction using a metal crosstie connection.
